FILMMAKER Q&A TO FOLLOW!
Directed by Fern Susan Levitt | 82 min | Canada
Lucy, the elephant in the Edmonton Valley Zoo, has been a focal point of controversy for decades. Activists, including many well-known celebrities, have advocated for Lucy to be moved to a sanctuary in California, while the Valley Zoo continues to stress that due to Lucy's fragile health, she could die during transport.
Living in Edmonton, we all know Lucy’s story, and the fight to set her free. However, this impassioned documentary exposes the overall impact of keeping elephants in zoos through several interrelated stories, Lucy's story acting as the film's emotional core. It’s a story you won’t soon forget.
