Description

An evening of 90s synth pop, melodic songscapes, spoken word, and hip-hop hypnosis. Catch local Calgary acts Lost Decade and Kue Varo with Edmonton artist Tzadeka on Thursday, April 7 at the King Eddy.

Show starts at 8:00 pm.

About Lost Decade:
Lost Decade is a Canadian synthwave trio from Calgary, Alberta. With soulful vocals and catchy melodies, Lost Decade draws a unique blend of 80’s and 90’s synth music. Formed in 2019, the band is composed of Chenelle Roberts, Brandon Smith, and Derek Leugner. Evelyn King, Chromeo, and Peter Gabriel are just a few of the artists that influence Lost Decade’s eclectic, retro approach to their original music. Lost Decade are currently working on producing their debut release in spring of 2022. Their music will give you a contemporary take on electronic music, lost in sounds from decades past.

About Kue Varo:
Katrina Spreen has been performing under various pseudonyms for the pas decade. The most recent of which (Kue Varo) came after a move to Montreal from Calgary. Feeling the freedom and fear of a new domicile, Kue’s debut album “Daffodil-11” was born. A purging of unspoken heartbreak and existential dread, juxtaposed by a celebratory triumph of a newfound independence.

About Tzadeka:
Tzadeka makes music that is unpredictable, clever and magnetic. female-fronted, experimental-prairie-soul and spoken word that’s fresh-as-hell! Tzadeka (TZA-deka) is Maigan van der Giessen, an Edmonton based emcee who has been pushing the boundaries of music since putting out her first tracks with hip hop collective Eshod ibn Wyza (2003). Maigan’s unique and spicy vocals collide with outside-the-box electronic beats; creating music with pops of jazz, punk, politics and the blues. Tzadeka released her 5th album in 2021 and shared stages with heavy-hitters like K’Naan, Kinnie Starr, ?uestlove, Snotty Nose Rez Kids and GZA.
