Chris Sleightholm
Christopher Sleightholm has been exploring psychedelic music with his band Snake River since 2012. Under his own name he steers toward the folk/country side of things, while definitely keeping some kaleidoscopic sounds. In 2022 Christopher released his third album called THE RIVER FLEW RIGHT PAST. Christopher’s Beautiful Band features: Clayton Linthicum (Kacy & Clayton), Marshall Burns (Rah Rah), Andy Beisel & Ian Cameron (Wolf Willow).
Christopher has been producing and recording albums for his projects, and others in his Song Has No End Studio. He has worked with Marshall Burns, Bree & Brown, The Radiation Flowers, as well as co-producing and engineering music for Bill Burns’ The Salt, the Milk, the Donkey, the Honey, the Folk Singers art exhibition. He also co-produced and engineered the score to Brian Stockton’s film 2081 (2017).
As a guitar player he has been featured on many records, including The Cold Manitoba Project, which was assembled by Michael Boguski, keyboardist of Blue Rodeo, and featured Dustin Bentall and Ellen Froese, as well as members of Deep Dark Woods, The Sheepdogs and Kacy & Clayton. His playing can also be heard on albums by Marshall Burns, Belle Plaine, and Zachary Lucky.
Christopher’s 2018 album, TWO ANIMALS RAGING AT THE STORM OUTSIDE saw Christopher and band tour Western Canada alongside fellow Saskatchewan band, Dumb Angel. On TWO ANIMALS Christopher played and sang on the record entirely alone; for 2019’s LAST YEAR’S WINTER he gathered friends to contribute to the record. Kacy & Clayton, Marshall Burns (Rah Rah), Vanessa Benson (Snake River), Andy Beisel (Kacy & Clayton), and Ian Cameron (Wolf Willow, Zachary Lucky) all appear on various tracks. In 2020 Christopher released a sunshine pop record, CLOUDS MELT AWAY under the alter-ego The Sunshiny Daze.
