Description

Laura Roy is a Canadian artist and Grammy-nominated songwriter whose journey from rural Nova Scotia to some of the world's largest stages reflects a continually evolving artistic vision. Rooted in the storytelling traditions of Canada's East Coast, she blends contemporary folk, R&B, and alternative pop with a distinctive voice marked by emotional depth and expressive nuance.

Based between the United Kingdom and Canada, Roy has toured internationally as a backing vocalist for major artists, experiences that broadened her musical perspective and refined her craft as a performer. After nearly a decade abroad, she returned to Nova Scotia to create her debut full-length album, Late Bloomer Season, a deeply personal project inspired by the landscapes, communities, and memories that shaped her early years. The album has been widely praised as her most authentic and fully realised work to date, capturing both the intimacy of her East Coast roots and the breadth of her global experiences.

A two-time East Coast Music Award winner, Roy first gained attention through her EPs Forte, Tides, and Odyssey, each marking a new chapter in her artistic evolution. As a songwriter, she contributed to “Alone” by Doja Cat from the album Planet Her, earning a Grammy nomination and establishing herself as a sought-after collaborator with a gift for emotionally resonant songwriting.

In 2026, Roy further expanded her creative practice as a Musician in Residence at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, continuing to develop new work while strengthening her reputation as one of Canada's most compelling emerging voices.

With each release, Laura Roy continues to carve out a unique space in contemporary music, one defined by immersive storytelling, evocative lyricism, and an unwavering commitment to artistic authenticity.
