*** TANK GYAL (LIGHTA!) ***

Tank Gyal is a Vancouver-born-and-raised DJ and event promoter. She is the creator and resident of Vancouver's longest-running reggae dancehall weekly Ting, which has been rocking every Thursday for well over 12 years. She is also the First Lady of Vancouver's notorious Lighta! Sound. Tank Gyal has played shows in places far and wide including Jamaica, Mexico, Switzerland, Miami, Las Vegas, Seattle, and all over the Lower Mainland and has performed at landmark music events such as Damian Marley's Welcome to Jamrock Reggae Cruise, Victoria Ska & Reggae Fest, Shambhala, and Bass Coast. Tank Gyal has opened for many top artists including Spice, Shaggy, Damian Marley, Beenie Man Gyptian, Chronixx, Elephant Man, Shenseea, Tanya Stephens, Richie Spice, The Wailers, Collie Buddz, and more. Her DJ sets are a rapid fire throwdown of the hottest Jamaican music from the past, present and future!

*** MANDAI (LIGHTA!) ***

This bad gyal has been a long-time staple in Vancouver's underground bass scene for almost two decades. She started out by spending countless hours digging elbow-deep in crates of 45s in Canada, the US and Jamaica. Her finely curated sets landed her behind the decks continuously and firmly solidified her as a member of Vancouver's notorious LIGHTA! crew. She is well-known for her legendary mixes, some being all-vinyl releases, her true love. Blending reggae/dancehall with bass/rap/RNB/grime, her musical repertoire is expansive and fresh. A regular at Bass Coast, she also graced stages at Shambhala, Diversity and her family-run festival The Field. She rocked the Thunder Stage at LIB and made ripples at the Moon Stage at the Oregon Eclipse. She has opened for well-known artists in both the reggae/dancehall and international underground music scenes and graces underground parties spanning the west coast and other major musical hubs.

*** LOWKITA (SPECIAL GUEST) ***

Vocalist and beatmaker Lowkita channels her Caribbean heritage and influences from across hip-hop and grime for cool, confident tracks that skate between rapping and R&B-style vocals. She is also incredibly versatile in tone — her most recent singles are “Likkle Honey,” a swaggering warcry full of boasts and icy, menacing dancehall, and “Selective,” a warped, near-psychedelic groove with an inspirational overtone.
