Bob Rogers & Dennis Esson

Join us for an electrifying tribute to J.J. Johnson and Kai Winding, the duo that redefined jazz trombone with virtuosity, harmony, and unstoppable swing. From hard-bop burners to lush ballads, this show celebrates the music that changed jazz history. Playing the role of J.J. and Kai (you can debate who is who) is Bob Rogers and Dennis Esson. Bob and Dennis first met in the 1980s as young up and comers on the Vancouver music scene. Bob is a longtime mainstay in the Okanagan music community having performed with Aerosmith, the Temptations, Natalie Cole and the Okanagan Symphony while Dennis enjoyed a lengthy career as a preeminent member of Vancouver’s jazz scene, performing with the likes of Ray Charles, Hugh Fraser, Kenny Wheeler, and Slide Hampton.

Joining the evening's J.J. and Kai will be Neville Bowman on keys, Scott Gamble on drums, and Stefan Bienz on bass.
