Kevin McDonald, SUPERSTAR!

A Rock Opera written and performed by Kevin McDonald of Kids in the Hall. Featuring the Kinkonauts!

This intense and spectacular ROCK OPERA tells the true story of Kevin McDonald, SUPERSTAR, in a harrowing account of love gone very horribly and predictably wrong. Starring Kevin McDonald (as himself, and Lorne Michaels). Featuring Kinkonauts players in all the other roles and music.

Kevin's original Rock Opera will be performed "readers theatre style," meaning that the performers will have scripts and music on stands in front of them. Like a radio play. But in person. Where you watch the radio performers. But they don't move around the stage. 

Kevin McDonald, an Improv Jam! 

Following the intermission there will be an improv jam show where Kevin mixes it up with your favourite Kinkonauts!

Why would we do that? Well one terrific way to write sketch comedy is to improvise scenes, and then rewrite it until it's reeeaaaaaaaalllly funny. In fact you can take a class with Kevin to learn how to do that yourself. In this half of the show you'll see Kevin and the Kinkonauts make stuff up based on suggestions from the audience, and maybe some of the scenes will even become grown up sketches one day. 

The Rock Opera runs just under an hour, and the Improv Jam is shorter than that. We promise. Intermission is 15 minutes.  

The Kinkonauts, Calgary's Improv Lab, has delighted audiences with extraordinary unscripted theatre since 2006. Every show is a unique, never to be repeated adventure.
