"What is Keithmas?" you ask.
Keithmas is a birthday celebration + Christmas party + fundraiser held in honor of the patron saint of Rock and Roll himself, Keith Richards, where 100% of the proceeds from Keithmas go to the local food bank. Live bands perform songs from Keith's enormous catalog throughout the night's festivities. At the end of the night the money is counted and donated to the local food bank."
Okayyyy.....so why do I need Keithmas in my life?" you ask.
The answer is simple. For over 50 years as the guitar player and renegade member of the Rolling Stones Keith Richards has survived with style and grace. Well maybe not the grace part but he has survived, and some might say (I’m looking at the Doctors out there!) against all odds. It's also a great way to kick off the Christmas season, hear some great bands (if your reading this you like music) do their versions of Stones songs, have a party (Keith would obviously approve) and raise some much needed cash for the Food Bank (everyone needs food but some can't afford it all the time). Literally everybody wins!
"When did Keithmas start?"
The event concept started in Vancouver in 2010 when HIDDEN CHARMS PRESENTS (dabbling with a relatively unknown theorem - Keith Richards Birthday + Christmas X Jack Daniels = Party) decided to do it's first Keithmas at the Fairview Pub featuring 6 bands. Since then the event has grown to feature 10 bands and into an annual excuse to get all the Keithnuts (affectionate term used to describe returning patrons) together and LET IT ROCK. The first year in Vancouver raised $800 and a bunch of food. And in the 9 years since Keithmas started in Vancouver the event has raised over $65 000 for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank and sold out well in advance for the last 5 years! All in the name of Keith Fuckin' Richards.
"How do I accept Keithmas into my life?"
Simple. Come to the 2nd annual Keithmas - A FOOD BANK FUNDRAGER at the Palomino in Calgary Saturday DECEMBER 18, 2021. Drink some Jack (in Keith's honor), meet other Keith Richards / Stones fans and celebrate KEITHMAS where 100% of the proceeds go to the Calgary Food Bank and RIP THIS JOINT!!
