James Gordon with Katherine Wheatley

James Gordon has had a long and diverse career world-wide, as a founding member of the groundbreaking Canadian folk trio Tamarack and with his own solo work which features songs about the Canadian landscape and culture, current issues, humour, and the environment.  When he can steal her away from her popular trio “Boreal”, (Up for 3 CFMA awards this spring )- James loves to share the stage with his Guelph neighbour and friend Katherine Wheatley. With her strong vocals and guitar playing, and their infectious on-stage chemistry, their stage show focuses on James’ material with some Wheatley originals thrown in. 

Singer songwriter Katherine Wheatley’s 35-year musical career has been diverse: she’s worked in Antarctica and the Arctic as musician/zodiac driver; she’s written over 200 songs with kids through her programme “Youthsongs”; she’s performed as a solo artist and in a variety of musical groups at festivals and folk clubs – in Canada, the US and Europe. These days, she performs with the hilarious and moving duo "Wendell and Wheat”; co-leads Women's Music Weekend and weekly choirs with Jane Lewis, and she’s in the trio Boreal with Angie Nussey and Tannis Slimmon. Boreal and their CD “Winterbirds” have been nominated for 3 Canadian Folk Music Awards.

James Gordon a mené une longue et riche carrière à travers le monde, en tant que membre fondateur du trio folk canadien révolutionnaire Tamarack et grâce à son travail solo qui met en avant des chansons sur les paysages et la culture canadiens, les questions d'actualité, l'humour et l'environnement. Quand il parvient à l'arracher à son trio populaire « Boreal » (nominé pour trois prix CFMA ce printemps), James adore partager la scène avec sa voisine et amie de Guelph, Katherine Wheatley. Avec sa voix puissante et son jeu de guitare, ainsi que leur alchimie contagieuse sur scène, leur spectacle se concentre sur les compositions de James, auxquelles s'ajoutent quelques titres originaux de Wheatley.
