The Jamaica 60th Independence Celebration August 7th at the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center will be a celebration of Jamaica's post colonial history in music form.  To this end, we have invited some of the most celebrated living legends to perform:

Roy Rayon has won the festival song competition four times, second only to Eric Donaldson who has won it seven times. Roy will be performing some of the most popular songs, including some of Eric's.

Michigan had also entered the festival song competition and will be performing that song plus many of his hits throughout the years.

Leroy Sibbles is a Jamaican reggae musician and producer. He was the lead singer for The Heptones in the 1960s and 1970s, whose most notable hits songs included "Baby", "Get in the Groove", "Ting a Ling", "Fattie Fattie", "Got to Fight On (To the Top)", "Party Time", and "Sweet Talking". Sibbles was also a session bassist and arranger at Clement "Coxsone" Dodd's Jamaica Recording and Publishing Studio and the associated Studio One label during the late 1960s.

Wayne Armond from Chalice is another living legend that will be on stage.

Nadine Sutherland, Jamaica's Queen of reggae, will also be on stage performing her hits over the years.

Our dignitaries will include  Jamaican Consul General Oliver Mair, Jamaica’s lady of world renown fame Lisa Hanna, our patron and hard-working Commissioner, Denise D. Grant, and other City of Lauderhill officials.  It will be a day to remember!
