Description

Isle of Tease is returning for it's 4th year and we want to celebrate with YOU! Join us for a night of celebration and community before the showcases begin! This exclusive event for Isle of Tease performers, volunteers, and local burlesque and drag community members to mix and mingle. As we gear up for two days of jam-packed burlesque showcases and workshops, we want to create a space for both local and traveling performers to connect, mingle, play, and celebrate this beautiful and unique art form and community.

*Please be advised this event is not open to the general public. It is open to volunteers and performers of the festival, and self-identifying active local burlesque community members + respective partners.

This event will include 2 parts:

  • The first will be a private dinner for individuals performing in and volunteering with the festival
  • After the dinner, doors will open for general burlesque and drag community members 

Location: The Other Guise (716 Johnson Street)

TICKETS:

  • $10 + ticket fees for non-festival performers and community members
  • FREE for Isle of Tease Burlesque Festival performers 
  • FREE for festival volunteers 

Times:

  • 5pm-6pm - Private dinner for festival performers and volunteers
  • 6:30pm - Doors open for Community Mingler
  • 7:00pm - 10:00pm - Community Mingler

✨Food/Drinks:✨

The private performer/volunteer dinner will include hot meals and non-alcoholic beverages, with the option to buy drinks from the cash bar. The Community Mingler portion will have light snacks and desserts, as well as a cash bar. Both will include gluten free and vegan options.


✨Accessibility:✨

The venue is all one level with no step to enter/exit. There is an accessible, all-gender washroom that is large enough to fit a wheelchair comfortably and includes handrails and a lowered sink. Additional washrooms are located upstairs. There is a shin-high step up to the stage, however a ramp can be set up. A sensory-friendly area will be set up with dimmer lights, fidget toys and colouring pages. 


✨Activities✨

  • Community mural: We will have three canvases set up with paints and markers with the prompt of “What does burlesque mean to you?" Performer and community members are encouraged to paint, draw and write to create collaborative pieces of art. The resulting paintings will be added to the raffle, the proceeds of which go back into supporting the festival.

 

  • Group Improv Burlesque: Attendees will be able to sign up the night of to participate in a group improv burlesque-off. Groups will work together to create an improvised group number and then perform. Groups will have approximately 20 minutes to work on their number. Props and costume pieces will be provided in a range of sizes. 

 

  • Local Performer Spotlight: In addition to the improvised burlesque, we will also have performances from two local performers.
