Description

Join us for an illuminating evening with social researcher Catherine Chambers as she explores Black innovations through history — celebrating the creators, inventors, and visionaries whose groundbreaking ideas have shaped culture, design, and technology across generations.

From everyday essentials to artistic and scientific achievements, this engaging talk highlights the often-overlooked contributions of Black innovators and their lasting impact on the world we know today. Catherine will also spotlight figures in footwear and fashion, including Jan Ernst Matzeliger, who revolutionized shoe production with his lasting machine, and Dr. D’Wayne Edwards, founder of ÜNOS by SIA, whose work continues to redefine design education and creativity.

Come discover the stories of innovation, resilience, and brilliance that continue to inspire and shape our collective future.
