Description
Inner Conflict: An improv workshop w/ Martin Gustafsson from Sweden
Learn how to find more complexity in your characters. We will explore how to play with subtext, hidden intention and your characters duality. In this 2 hour workshop we will dig into a whole range of silent and verbal scene-work that focuses on acting skills and communicating what is left unspoken. The exercises are inspired by dramaturgic writing and a Swedish improv style that tend to go towards a more heavy and dramatic kind of comedy. Some improv experience is preferred.
Instructor Bio
Martin Gustafsson is a professional improviser and teacher, from Gbgimpro in Sweden (Gothenburgs impro theater). He is also a director for the group Primalimpro that also is based in Gothenburg.
He’s doing his education as a theater teacher at Sweden's only theater teacher education at Gothenburg University. He’s teaching children and adults in both scripted theater and improv. He has performed on improv scenes like Bad Dog Theater (Toronto), Deep End Theater (Oregon), Paper Street Theater (Victoria), Unexpected Productions (Seattle), Loose Moose Theater (Calgary), Annoyance Theatre (Chicago), Copenhagen Comedy festival (Copenhagen), SWIMP (Uppsala), Improfest (Gothenburg) and more.
His motto in improv is that everything that happens onstage is true. Mistakes are just another road.
Another big intrest is comic books and storytelling…. He’s a big nerd.
Sunday October 14th, 11:00am -1:30pm. At Havana Theatre (1212 Commercial Drive)
