Vancouver Art Attack presents"I'd Rather Be Dancing"Art by LUPO"I'd Rather Be Dancing" is a brand new body of work featuring emotive and captivating figurative finger paintings, portraits and cement sculptures created in memorium of the people Lupo has lost to overdose and police violence.
Taking place at The Well, inside the historic City Centre Motor Hotel.
ABOUT LUPO: "LUPO" meaning WOLF. Lupo comes from traveller heritage and from a complicated history of migration and displacement. He currently lives and works on the unceded, traditional territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil Waututh Nations. He also owes much gratitude to Cree and Metis communities from his family's first arrival on this land. A true renaissance man, Lupo is a professional dancer and self taught sculptor and painter, who uses his artistic practice as a cathartic tool to process the loss, violence, and trauma from his own life and experience. While his work reflects personal experience, Lupo also draws inspiration and strength from his 20 years of community, mental health and crisis work alongside youth and families from across BC, including Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. His intention is for others to connect with the emotions and experiences expressed in his work, and for us to find connection and collective strength even in pain and darkness. You may have spotted his plaster #BelovedGhosts through out the city. This is an ongoing body of sculptural work that honours the ones we have lost to the ongoing opioid crisis and to state violence.
