Description

Guitar, saxophone, powerhouse songwriting and a voice that won him a Canadian Folk Music Award for Contemporary Singer — Ian Sherwood brings light and immediacy to every stage he steps on. A born storyteller and constant creator, his music moves effortlessly between folk and pop, with live performances that thrive on intimacy and connection. Whether it’s a theatre show or a major festival stage, his charm and energy dissolve the fourth wall.

Touring extensively across Canada, the U.S. and the U.K., Sherwood also produces for other artists as well as for theatre, film and television. He’s been named Best Male Artist of the Year by the International Acoustic Music Awards and twice named Music Nova Scotia Musician of the Year. CBC’s Bob Mersereau describes him as “a natural performer who entertains as much with his wit and stories as with his songs.”

In September 2024, Sherwood released Broken Little Heart, his newest studio album. The title track — co-written with acclaimed Canadian songwriter Ron Sexsmith — highlights his continued evolution in sound and lyricism. He continues to write, tour, collaborate and bring fresh stories and sounds to audiences everywhere.

“Ian Sherwood may have a broken little heart, but he never descends to the maudlin or self-indulgent … Ian’s voice is in wonderful form here and so are his songwriting chops. … Some records sound promising on first listen but get old fast. This one … has revealed itself more with each listen.” –Roots Music Canada (Gordy the Moose) “Everywhere To Go is a record which deserves be heard far and wide. Despite starting out as a saxophonist, acoustic folk is Ian Sherwood’s forte and it’s something he does rather well." –Americana-UK.com

“a brilliant slice of Canadian folk pop, songs to make your toes tap and lyrics to lift your soul...”–anythinggoesmusic.org.uk

“This latest release from a poetic wordsmith... has struck an egalitarian balance between aiming for the pulse and penetrating the heart.”–ThreeChordsAndTheTruth.blogspotco.uk
