Description

I HAVE A NAME

Directed by Eric S. Vaughan | 40 min | USA

ERIC VAUGHAN & JON LINTON WILL BE IN ATTENDANCE FOR THIS SCREENING!

Accompanied by his camera, artist Jon Linton embarks on a soul-searching journey to grapple with the harsh realities of addiction and homelessness after losing a friend and colleague, offering a poignant exploration of the unhoused experience.

By compassionately observing the culture's true social conditions, Jon finds a deep pathway to empathy through connection with gestures as simple as asking and using people's names. Without an ounce of intent and purely through organic outflow, Jon became an activist and advocate, finding donors, partners and supporters through the most improbable sets of circumstances under the simple banner of let's BE BETTER HUMANS.

SOMEONE LIVES HERE

Directed by Zack Russell | 75 min | Canada

As timely as it is inspiring (and frustrating!), Someone Lives Here is a modern-day David and Goliath Story set against the backdrop of North America's housing crisis. Carpenter Khaleel Seivwright builds small life-saving shelters for unhoused people living outside in Toronto during the winter of the pandemic. His actions attract international attention along with infuriatingly staunch opposition from Toronto city officials, resulting in a film that’s a masterclass in demonstrating how red tape and politics can get in the way of tangible solutions.
