Saskatoon, SK) – Tour mates I Mother Earth and Finger Eleven have teamed up to raise funds for the families and community impacted by the recent tragedy in Saskatchewan. The bands will be donating all proceeds from their performance at Saskatoon’s O’Brian’s Event Centre to the current crowd funding campaign to help families of the Humboldt Broncos.
The I Mother Earth and Finger ELEVEN Tour begins today in Peterborough, Ontario, and heads to western Canada hitting Saskatoon on April 25. Both acts agreed that the only way to play the show was to make the night a fundraiser. With the support of O'Brians Event Centre and all partners, arrangements have now been made so all ticket sales will be donated, and any remaining tickets will be offered at a ‘pay-what-you-can’ price. Local artists will also be invited to join the stage as a show of support and solidarity amongst the music community.
“Like so many parents, I cried when I heard the news, I hugged my kids, and I felt so much sadness for the families. It gutted me,” says I Mother Earth drummer Christian Tanna. “I can’t imagine what the people in that community are dealing with at the moment. We just wanted to do something, anything, that might offer a small amount of relief.”
Finger Eleven bassist Sean Anderson adds, “If we eat our fees and costs and the venue and all involved donate all of their services, then we can really make every dollar count. ‘Pay-what-you-can’ will also ensure that every single attendee can help make a difference based what they can afford.
“Our hearts break for the Humboldt Broncos, their families, their friends and their communities,” says Finger Eleven vocalist Scott Anderson. “As bands that have travelled many times across our country, we feel a part of many communities. I would really like to help anyway I can. I also hope we can rally more of our friends in Canadian bands on tour to do what they can too, and donate to the Humboldt GoFundMe campaign.”
