A vivacious firecracker hailing from the dust-ridden streets of Edmonton, Holly Von Sinn (they/them) is guaranteed to tickle more than just your fancy. As one of the first solo dancers in the city, Holly has set aflame stages all over North America and Europe, has blazed the trail for burlesque in Edmonton, and has left audiences dry mouthed and sweating. Kicking up a storm on stage – like an untamable prairie tornado

Having taken training from many luminaries of both the burlesque and clown world they have over 14 years of stage experience and have been teaching burlesque for over 10 years. They have taught workshops across Canada and the United States, including at the Vancouver International Burlesque Festival, they also teach regular serialized classes at CEAPC in Edmonton.

Each workshop is 1.5 hours and will take place at Evergreen Community SPACES.

Clowning for Burlesque - $30
12 pm - 1:30 pm
(all skill levels/all mobility)

In this class you will work through movement based clowning exercises with the goal of building stage presents, become more grounded, making stronger choices on stage and character building skills. We will explore how to make choices like a clown, how character choices affect movement, and how play in the studio translates on stage. This is a movement based class however these movements are self directed based on prompts so this class is accessible to all skill levels and mobility. Please wear clothes you can move comfortably in, runners or bare feet is recommended for footwear and please bring a water bottle to stay hydrated.

Stop, Drop and Roll - Basic Floor Work for Burlesque - $30
1:30 pm - 3:00 pm
(all skill levels/some mobility limitations)

In this class we will work through how to safely get to the floor, what to do when down there and how to get back up. We discuss how floor work helps make an act pop, how levels should be considered when building an act and adding floor-work to your bag of tricks. Please be advised that most movements in this class can be mortified for most skill levels and mobility; however this is a movement class that will engage your core, lower back and legs(knees and hips) in repetitive movements. Please wear clothes you can comfortably move in, heels are completely optional, bring knee pads and/or a yoga mat to help with impact of movement and a water bottle to stay hydrated.
