Hip Hop Jam

Ottawa’s only Hip Hop Jam session is coming to Red Bird, and will be a strong addition to our monthly music series. 

Every month:

Will be featuring a different Emcee that will host the show with our house Emcee Nick Pouponneau (of Zoo Legacy). Backed with a full live band Andrew and The Capital Syndicate, these showcases are bound to instil a deep love and connection to the incredible Hip Hop scene that we carry in the Capital city!

January's Features: 

FREDDY: FREDDY (Further Reiterating Everyday Difficulties of Dilated Youth) is an acronym that fell into place when expressing what the Ottawa-based lyricist set out to accomplish within the burgeoning Canadian Hip Hop scene. His raspy, gritty and distinguishable voice sets the canvas for intricate word play with an immaculate cadence.
As his career enters a new phase, the homegrown talent continues to be a breath of fresh air for hip hop purists and a voice for those who stay under the radar by choice or by circumstance.

King J: King J is a Nigerian-born Ottawa based artist whose fusion of afro beats with other genres of music got us wanting more...... and more is coming #MIA (MadeInAfrica). 

Important Notes:

1. Every Instrument will be provided by the house.
2. Access to stage is a first-come, first-serve process.
3. The amount of instruments and microphones present on the stage will determine how many can stay on the stage at one time.
4. We will have the “RED BIRD PICK” of the night. This pick will be chosen by staff at Red Bird and will encourage one participant of the night to close the show with another performance. 
5. There will be opportunities to network and possibly be featured in future events as a featured emcee or instrumentalist.
