Vancouver’s most lively, action-packed underground comedy night returns—now in a new, fancier home at Revue Stage on Granville Island! The gutterclowns get a dressing room! 

Celebrate the 10th show with us as we test out new venue: a 198-seat raked theatre with a thrust stage extending into the audience. The stage is now six times bigger, giving the clowns ultimate freedom to roll around, sprawl, and scramble—while still being fully seen. Same silly, raunchy, adult clown show with absolutely improper behavior.

The GutterClown Cabaret is the beating heart of the modern clown movement on this side of the border. Thank Glob we don’t have to go to LA for this wild collision of clown, bouffon, solo sketch, comedy-burlesque, stand-up, musical comedy, and whatever else spills out of the grab bag of abstraction and deranged silliness.

Oh... What is GutterClown you ask?

GutterClown is an adult-only style of clown-theatre that intends to provoke, explore, and release shadow while playing in the ridiculousness of life and still being somewhat lovable. Think European-range-of-emotion clown, not Horror Clown or Ringling Brothers. This is the new wave of clown: raw, rebellious, and deeply human.

GutterClown Cabaret celebrates truth-telling through laughter and play. We acknowledge that this creative work takes place on the stolen lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) people, and we’re grateful to gather here to share stories that honour both joy and truth. In doing this work + play we hope to inspire more voices to speak up and out against whitewashing, colonialism and inhumane oppression.
