Three-Time JUNO Award-Winning Gryphon Trio in Concert

Historic Niagara-on-the-Lake | July 13

Music Niagara proudly presents the internationally celebrated Gryphon Trio, one of the world’s leading chamber ensembles, performing in the beautiful and historic setting of St. Mark’s Church in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

For more than three decades, the Gryphon Trio has captivated audiences around the world with performances that combine power, precision, and deep musical expression. Known for bridging tradition and innovation, the Trio performs repertoire spanning the great classics of European chamber music to bold contemporary works that redefine the piano trio for modern audiences.

Their discography includes 22 acclaimed recordings on labels such as Analekta, Ondine, and Naxos, featuring music by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Dvořák, Ravel, Shostakovich, and Piazzolla, alongside works by contemporary composers including Valentin Silvestrov, Christos Hatzis, and Kelly-Marie Murphy. Their recordings have earned widespread critical praise and three JUNO Awards, establishing the ensemble as one of Canada’s most distinguished chamber groups.

Critics have praised the Trio’s commanding performances, with the Los Angeles Times describing them as “a piano trio that plays with strength and unanimity… big, bold, almost orchestral performances.”

The ensemble features violinist Annalee Patipatanakoon, a laureate of the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition; cellist Roman Borys, founding member and one of Canada’s leading artistic voices in chamber music; and pianist Jamie Parker, the Rupert E. Edwards Chair in Piano Performance at the University of Toronto.

Dedicated educators as well as performers, the Trio regularly presents masterclasses across North America and serves as Artists-in-Residence at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Music. Jamie Parker holds the Rupert E. Edwards Chair in Piano Performance, Annalee Patipatanakoon is Professor of Violin and Chamber Music, and Roman Borys is Artistic and Executive Director of Toronto’s renowned chamber music series Music TORONTO.

An inspiring evening of brilliant musicianship and unforgettable chamber music artistry in historic Niagara-on-the-Lake.
