Description
Grand Analog is Canada's premiere Live Hip-Hop Band. They are a raw collective of seasoned record collectors, musicians and self-described beat junkies.
Creator and lead vocalist, Odario Williams, describes the Grand Analog sound as “a beautiful mess of Rap’n’Roll, Dub & Soul”. Band members include bassist & producer Warren Bray, producer Alister Johnson, drummer & singer TJ Garcia, DJ & producer Ofield Williams and sax player & producer Aubrey McGhee.
Grand Analog’s latest offering, Survival EP (released Jan 26, 2018), was produced collectively with each band member bringing unique flavour and raw talent to the soundscape. Survival keeps GA’s amalgamated genre traditions alive by fine-tuning what is now the Grand Analog sound. Survival is Hip-Hop’s new folklore; skillfully and subtly blending 90s Golden Era Hip-Hop, 80s Groove and 70s Dub Reggae into the mix. Odario and DJ Ofield blame their father, a reggae DJ from the 80s, for cursing them with the love of music, bass and trouble.
Grand Analog stays true to their name by using vintage analog gear during the creation of their infectious groove. GA’s live show adds soul to the bloodline as well, mixing infrequent stage jams and off the wall tactics. Grand Analog has shared the stage with The Roots, Big Boi, Future, Little Dragon; and has toured with K-os, Bedouin Soundclash, Kardinal Offishall, Cadence Weapon, The Herbalizer and more. The infectious sound of Survival features a stellar line up of guests including Posdnuos (of De La Soul), A Tribe Called Red, Shad, Adaline, Clairmont The Second, Len Bowen, and Nestor Wynrush.
The outcome of these recordings carry a rich authentic analog feel. Most of the project was mixed by Timothy Abraham at the Hive Studios in Toronto.

Opener - DJ AOKS
Sannie grew up surrounded by hip-hop, watching his older brother Alex craft beats in their basement. He’s made international waves as a member of celebrated group The Lytics along with Alex, his other brother Andrew, and their cousin Mungala. His Djing has also been recognized in his city. He enjoys playing with sounds and eclectic selections from his own family culture -- often mixing afropop or reggae with HipHop, vice-versa. Sannie is a fan of sound, so it’s likely you will hear an array of melodies at his dj set.
