Description

All forms of calligraphy were first invented for a purpose, whether for practical use or otherwise, and it was only later that the rules of calligraphy emerged. This workshop will return to the purpose of writing - communication and emotion - and treat words as a form of creative expression. The course will introduce and use several different calligraphy tools to stimulate the imagination of the participants, and guide them to begin the journey of self-exploration. No matter what language they choose to write in, at the beginning of a new year, everyone will be able to compose one to three words for themselves or their loved ones, and learn about calligraphy in a lively and tactile way.

The organizers will provide materials and tools such as calligraphy brushes, ink, markers, acrylic flow pens, and Spring Festival couplet paper, for workshop use only. Participants are also welcome to bring their own paper and pens.
