GIRAF20 SHORTS: INDIE MIXTAPE SIDE B

Our Indie Animation Mixtapes represent what the festival Programming Committee deems to be the year’s most astounding, inventive, beautiful, mind-altering and unexpected animated films out there.

The B-side of any good mixtape hones in on your favourite artists' favourite artists and accentuates the obscure - prioritizing mood, aesthetic, and craft. This year’s Indie Mixtape Side B’s runtime is filled with mythical stories, transcendental abstractions and nods to animations lesser known history of visual music. 

Rich with Contemporary takes on age old fairy tales that would appeal to fans of Kay Nielsen or the Disney animation great, Mary Blaire, these films are gorgeous in design and colour palette. These films push the boundaries of cinema, and what independent animation is. Stopmotion, CGI, traditionally drawn and anything inbetween, these animators control frame.
