Description
One of IndieFest's most loved events, Future Mythologies, returns to the Annex Nov 26th! This year’s Future Mythologies is a collaboration with Chapel Sound and Notebook.
Future Mythologies is a celebratory showcase for the new works in development that aspire to redefine the future of storytelling, and become the myths of tomorrow. Joining us will be 8ULENTINA (Live) and Embaci (Live), with local support from MIIIA (Live) in their presentation of "Ashes of Time", with visuals by Melt (VJ). Through live performance and visuals, they will explore intersections of new sounds and folklore.

~~~~~~~~~~
About 8ULENTINA:
Esra Canoğulları, also known as 8ULENTINA, is a New York based interdisciplinary artist, electronic composer, and DJ. Known for his dynamic DJ sets and compositions, 8ULENTINA’s projects are characterized by his use of sound design, percussive intensity, storytelling and theatricality. 8ULENTINA co-founded CLUB CHAI (2016–2021), a record label and curatorial platform based in Oakland, California with Lara Sarkissian. He currently facilitates SILLAGE, a collaborative event series and record label focused on experimentation, improvisation and alternative archival sonic practices.
About EMBACI:
Embaci is a multidisciplinary artist and musician of Trinidadian heritage, born and based in Brooklyn, New York. Her practice weaves sound, technology, and storytelling into celestial, shape-shifting forms, guided by her voice—moving between resonance and distortion—as both an instrument and a portal. Trained as a contralto opera singer, she fuses classical technique with experimental production, dissolving genre boundaries through improvisation and play.
She approaches sound as a space for interaction, exploration, and discovery. Drawing on field recordings and everyday textures, such as the wind on a late-night walk or the low hum of a distant television, she layers and reshapes fragments into immersive, multidimensional compositions. Her work moves fluidly across genres and often takes form in collaborative contexts.
Through performance, Embaci crafts living soundscapes that invite presence,memory, and collective belonging.
About MIIIA:
MIIIA/N3ZHA is a defining force in China’s underground electronic music scene. Known as one of the most charismatic female voices in techno, she has built her reputation through raw authenticity and fearless experimentation. Since 2010, she has emerged as a pioneering producer and DJ, shaping China’s electronic landscape with forward-thinking sound. Her long-running radio show “Trip Out Session” brought her to the International Radio Festival in Zurich, followed by appearances at RBMA Bass Camp and the first Boiler Room China.
Over the past decade, MIIIA has performed in more than 40 cities across China and 20+ countries worldwide, playing stages such as Sonar Hong Kong, FFKT, RDC, Epizode, and ADE. Beyond the club, she explores large-scale art projects and experimental collaborations, including MUTEK Montréal, where she N3ZHA project fused Chinese traditional music with electronic innovation through immersive hardware live sets of modular synths, drum machines, and samplers.
Accompanied with visuals from MELT, MIIIA will present: "Ashes of Time". This performance is inspired by Wong Kar wai’s classic film 东邪西毒 (Ashes of Time) and other asian cult movies. Using slow movements, shadows, and ritual-like gestures, it shows memory, longing, and devotion. It’s about how one feels about power, fate, and desire.
About MELT:
Originally beginning her creative Journey as a photographer in Shanghai, Melt’s eye for visual storytelling evolved naturally into sound, motion, and atmosphere. A graduate of Emily Carr University of Art + Design in Vancouver, she developed a strong foundation in contemporary art while immersing herself in the city's underground scene.
Drawn to the pulse of subculture, Melt found home in dimly lit basements, art collectives, and after-hours spaces where visual and sonic worlds collide. Her work — whether through photography, installations, or live visuals — blends raw emotion with meditative rhythm, exploring the liminal space between light and shadow, memory and motion.
Now a DJ and VJ herself, Melt channels her lifelong fascination with underground art into immersive experiences that create connection through music, visuals, and collective energy.
