SCIENCE RXN 2026/2027: THE HUNGER GAMES

Welcome to the Faculty of Science, tribute. Before you can call yourself a UBC Science student, you've got to survive Science RXN, our legendary two day welcome event where new students team up, throw down, and become part of the Science community for good.

DAY 1: OPENING CEREMONY

6:00 PM at The Great Hall, AMS Nest

Kick things off with a night of mingling, food, and dancing.

• 6:00 PM – Doors open, check in and mingle
• 6:30 PM – Welcome and intros from your hosts
• 6:40 PM – Meet your SUS executives (with a live Q&A)
• 7:05 PM – Hear from Science alumni about life after first year
• 7:25 PM – Dinner is served
• 8:00 PM – Photobooth opens
• 8:30 PM – The dance floor comes alive
• 10:00 PM – Doors close

DAY 2: THE GAMES BEGIN

1:00 PM at Abdul Ladha Student Center

This is where legends are made. You'll be sorted into your district (team), then sent out to compete in six rotating stations across campus, each one worth points toward the ultimate prize: extra raffle tickets.

The Stations:

• 🎨 Arts & Crafts – Make a friendship bracelet or origami keepsake
• 💧 Relay Races – Pass water balloons down the line without a single pop
• 🪢 Tug of War – Team strength (and strategy) put to the test
• 🧠 Science Jeopardy – Hunger Games themed trivia showdown
• 🎨 Pictionary – Draw it, guess it, win it
• 🙈 Blindfolded Obstacle Course – Trust your teammate, trust the process

Every station is designed so everyone can jump in and play, no matter your comfort level or mobility. Photo participation is always optional and never affects your points.
