Description
Electronic folk group Education Party hits the legendary King Eddy stage with Edmonton's Jon Martin & Lovers on October 29.
About Education Party:
Bridging the gap between lyrical storytelling and pulsing synth-driven rhythms, Education Party creates a distinct blend of electronic folk, synth rock and new wave. Their expansive live setup fuses traditional folk and jazz elements with textures of the Chapman Stick (R), soaring saxophone, electric guitar and retro-modern synths- while anchored by driving rhythm and compelling male/female multi-vocals. This Calgary-based outfit of five delivers a cinematic, orchestral expression of genre-bending warmth, meant to light up a stage in any season.
About Jon Martin & Lovers:
Jon Martin is an Edmonton-based songwriter, producer, and musician with an adventurous musical imagination and a distinctly bittersweet optimism. His writing moves freely through Alt-Canadiana, chamber pop, rock, and beyond, anchored by expressive vocals and lyrics that find meaning in the complications of everyday life. A love of composing string arrangements brings depth and colour to his work, from intimate piano songs to expansive orchestration. Onstage, both solo and with Jon Martin and Lovers, he brings that same kaleidoscope of interests to eclectic performances that reveal the breadth of his songwriting.
Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door.
