Old Man Luedecke (Chris Luedecke) is an entertaining singer-songwriter and two-time Juno Award winner who plays banjo and guitar.  Born in Toronto, he lived in the Yukon before moving to the rural south shore of Nova Scotia.  He won a Juno Award for Traditional Folk Album of the Year for 'Proof of Love' in 2009, and followed up with another Juno Award for 'My Hands Are on Fire and Other Love Songs' in 2010.  His 'Tender Is The Night' album was nominated for a Polaris Prize, and his 'Domestic Eccentric' album won an East Coast Music Award for Album of the Year.  His new album – his eleventh – is entitled 'She Told Me Where To Go'.  His album producers have included Joel Plaskett and bluegrass great Tim O'Brien.  His wide-ranging travels have included six tours of Australia.
Songs like 'I Quit My Job' at the beginning of his career, 'The Early Days' about life with a young family, and dozens of other songs have become favourites among his fans, providing a soundtrack to their own progress through life and touching a rare place of truth and charm in the holiness of the mundane.  His performing style with his easy going humour and storytelling creates a rare space of hopeful and intimate magic.  
In May 2022, Old Man Luedecke was awarded an honorary doctorate from King’s University in Halifax for his cultural contributions.

Matthew Barber is a Toronto-based singer-songwriter who has been touring and making records for over two decades. He has released 11 albums, garnered two Juno nominations, several Canadian Folk Music Award nominations, performed extensively across four continents and racked up plenty of radio play and millions of streams. Inspired by 60’s rock and roll, folk and soul, 70’s singer-songwriters, old-time country and blues and 90’s indie rock, Matthew has carved out his own sound in the 21st century that has matured over the years. These days Matthew is equally at home performing with his band or solo when he’s not in the studio producing music for up and coming artists. His most recent release is an EP entitled No Singing or Dancing.

Being the youngest member of a musical family, Sam Polley grew up in the music industry, but took his own time to join the family business. Forming Sam Polley and The Old Tomorrows in downtown Toronto in 2017, Sam Polley surrounded himself with local musicians that he knew had similar musical interests, recruiting brothers Tally and Gianni Ferraro (bass and drums), and guitar player extraordinaire, Fraser Melvin. The band quickly meshed and played their first show to a sold out Cameron House Crowd.
At the beginning of 2018, the band headed to the studio to record their first EP, which they recorded in one long day at Pacha Sound Studio in Toronto (leading to the name, EP in a Day). With the new EP in hand, Sam Polley embarked on a cross country tour as a featured artist on the Jim Cuddy Band Constellation tour. Once back, Sam Polley and The Old Tomorrows continued to tour the EP through the rest of the year, and into 2019, playing both festivals and cities throughout Ontario.
Building off the success of their EP, Sam Polley and The Old Tomorrows then headed back to the studio to finish their debut album, ‘Time Forgot’, this time at the famous Woodshed Studio. Drawing their sound from 50’s and 60’s rockabilly licks, old country twang, and Motown swing, blending genres to create an upbeat boogie with groovy hooks, an album that’s sure to get you up and dancing.
Having decided to tap into their desire for the golden era, Sam Polley and The Old Tomorrows released a 45 vinyl this past year, with ‘Another Love’ as the a-side, and ‘Wasted Love’ as the b-side. Now the band is back on the road, touring coast to coast, and as always, getting people up and dancing.

Featuring a blend of acoustic instruments, rural soundscapes, and wistful vocals, Great Lake Swimmers are a critically acclaimed indie-folk group led by songwriter/vocalist Tony Dekker. Based in Toronto, Ontario, the group emerged in the early 2000s with a succession of heavily atmospheric albums recorded in old silos and rural country churches. The music developed in that pastoral warmth, performed and recorded in acoustically unique and historical locales with a revolving cast of personnel. They are renowned for their homespun folk and lush, intimate Americana in their live set.
Great Lake Swimmers celebrate their 20th anniversary in 2023 with “Uncertain Country,” an album where doubts are followed by discovery, demos end up as finished tracks, and themes of new beginnings, rear-view reflections, and ruminations on the fluidity of time form the basis of the eleven new songs.
It follows a prolonged period of collective anxiety. Recorded in different locales—and with a variety of musicians—a theme of questioning runs throughout. Even before the world turned upside down, Dekker felt mired in uncertainty: from the climate crisis to the ever-changing political landscape. The “uncertain country” chosen as the album’s theme is not a specific place. Rather, it’s a territory we, as humans, inhabit in the 21st century — a world that, more often than not, is confusing, unfamiliar and unsettling.
“Moonlight, Stay Above” epitomizes what Great Lake Swimmers represents. A 10-voice strong women’s choir (Niagara's Minuscule) lifts the lonely-sounding and wistful song up. As with that addition, the band on each album is fluid and always evolving.
Great Lake Swimmers were shortlisted for the prestigious Polaris Music Prize and nominated twice for Canada’s Juno Awards, with the CBC calling them “a national treasure.”

There is a $75.00, including tax, entry fee required, payable online to Glengarry Highland Games. The entry fee must accompany all entries. The entry fee includes a full day admission to the grounds of the Glengarry Highland Games for Friday August 1, 2025. The entry fee will be returned to competitors who are not selected to compete.
Subject to entries for the Bar contest, entries for the Piobaireachd Society Gold Medal (Canada) event will be limited to twelve (12) contestants for the Gold Medal event. Preference will be given to entries with a Competing Pipers Association grading of A and B.

Each month Bluegrass Wednesdays begins with a 2 hour concert followed by a jam session.
Concert goers are encouraged to bring your instruments and /or voices and join in for a post concert jam.
 
Maple Hill is an award winning bluegrass band that brings energy, emotion, fun and a dash of the lost art of vaudevillian entertainment to their show. Maple Hill covers the full range of bluegrass from the early hard-edge blues through gospel and on to today’s great songwriters, including original compositions. Bluegrass Mondays audience will enjoy the powerful vocals with strong supportive instrumental backup rooted in a traditional sound.
The band membership has evolved over the years. Co-founders Garry Greenland (guitar & vocals) and Pat Moore (bass and vocals), and long time member Kevin Golka (mandolin & vocals) are now joined by Dana Arrowsmith whose dynamic fiddle playing brings an exciting new dimension to the band's sound. Heather Aitken is the newest member, bringing that much needed 5 string banjo into the mix. Garry, Pat, Kevin and Heather all share the lead and harmony vocals, keeping things fresh and interesting throughout the performance.Heart, drive, deep blues, inspiration, a tight vocal blend, fun filled interplay, and an intimate relationship with the audience are some of the things that describe a Maple Hill performance.

Bill FrisellBill Frisell’s career as a guitarist and composer has spanned more than 40 years and many celebrated recordings, whose catalog has been cited by Downbeat as “the best recorded output of the decade”.Grammy nominated, his latest recording is entitled Orchestras released April 2024 on Blue Note. In the trio format he’s favored throughout his career, the guitarist and composer has always projected an orchestral scope — through his remarkably complete sense of harmony, a unique gift for melodies that remain with you long after a performance, and a keen feel for how dynamic range can be used to convey emotion. But on his new double album, his fourth release for Blue Note Records, he makes those symphonic evocations a reality. Produced by Lee Townsend, Orchestras documents two inspired concert-hall engagements arranged by Michael Gibbs for Frisell’s long-standing trio with bassist Thomas Morgan and drummer Rudy Royston: one featuring the nearly 60-piece Brussels Philharmonic, conducted by Alexander Hanson; and one with the 11-piece Umbria Jazz Orchestra, under the musical direction of Manuele Morbidini.In March 2022, a biography on Frisell, entitled Beautiful Dreamer – The Guitarist Who Changed The Sound of American Music, written by Philip Watson was published by Faber and released in the UK, Europe, South, Central America & Asia. Through unprecedented access, and interviews with his close family, friends and collaborators, Philip Watson tells the story of the innovative and influential guitarist and composer. Recognized as one of America’s 21 most vital and productive performing artists, Frisell was named an inaugural Doris Duke Artist in 2012. He is also a recipient of grants from United States Artists and Meet the Composer, among others. From 2013 – 2015, Bill was Resident Artistic Director for Jazz at Lincoln Center for their Roots of Americana series, and in 2016, he was a beneficiary of the first FreshGrass Composition commission to preserve and support innovative grassroots music. Upon San Francisco Jazz opening their doors in 2013, he served as one of their Resident Artistic Directors.Bill is also the subject of a documentary film by director Emma Franz, entitled Bill Frisell: A Portrait, which examines his creative process in depth. He has also received an honorary doctorate from the Berklee College of Music.Rudy RoystonBorn in Fort Worth, Texas, and raised in Denver, Colorado, Royston has been a professional teacher, drummer and percussionist for almost twenty years. He studied classical percussion at University of Denver where earned undergraduate degrees in Music and English, and accomplished teacher certification credentials from Metropolitan State College of Denver. Rudy grew up playing drums in church, and found his voice under the auspices of Colorado’s celebrated trumpeter Ron Miles, whom Royston deems his greatest influence, and with whom Rudy has played since 1991. He has taught, recorded and performed all styles of music from Jazz to marching percussion. Since moving to Piscataway, New Jersey in 2006, Royston has completed a Masters in Music degree from Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and performed with many of today’s finest Jazz musicians. To a generation of contemporary jazz guitar aficionados, Mike Stern is regarded as one of the true guitar greats of his generation. A player of remarkable facility whose searing lines are informed mainly by bebop and the blues while also carrying a rock-tinged intensity, Stern made his mark with Miles Davis in the early ‘80s before launching his solo career in 1985. Since then he has released 18 recordings as a leader, six of which were nominated for GRAMMY® Awards. The Bros. Landreth welcomed a new day with Come Morning, an album that marked both a rebirth and refinement of the award-winning band's blend of North American roots music and harmony-heavy soul. The brothers embarked on a sold-out and near capacity tour of clubs and festivals across Canada, the US, Europe, and Australia, including stand-out performances at Byron Bay Blues Festival and Eric Clapton’s Crossroads at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Come Morning earned the band its second JUNO, this time for Contemporary Album of the Year. Also in 2023, a banner year for the band, Joey and Dave became Grammy-winning songwriters when Bonnie Raitt’s cover of their song, Made Up Mind (from their first album, Let it Lie), earned the Grammy for Americana Performance of the Year. The cover was big news for the band as the lead single off her newest chart-topping album, spending 14 weeks in the number one spot on the Americana radio charts.  The most immersive, emotive record of the Landreths' career, Come Morning finds brothers Joey and Dave lacing their melody-driven songs with layers of atmospheric synth, organ, and textured guitar. The group's previous albums shone a light on their strength as a live act, capturing the spontaneity and sonic stomp of a band of hard-touring road warriors. If those records unfolded like snapshots of The Bros. Landreth's nighttime shows, then Come Morning sketches a markedly different picture, showcasing the introspection and clarity that comes with a long period of rest.  For Joey and Dave, rest wasn't always an easy thing to find. From their early days attending their father's gigs as babies ("Mom would take us in the bassinet and stick us under the bar tables," says Dave) to their years logged onstage and on the road, they've spent much of their lives being moved — both physically and emotionally — by music. After pursuing separate careers as sidemen, they launched The Bros. Landreth with 2013's Let It Lie, a debut album that drew upon the shared soundtrack of their childhood — Bonnie Raitt's blues, Little Feat's funky country-rock, Ry Cooder's eclectic instrumentals, Lyle Lovett's twangy traditionalism — for a sound that saluted the past while planting its flag firmly in the present. This was music for the heart and the heartland, with songs that evoked the American South one minute and the windswept prairies of the brothers' Manitoba homeland the next. Fittingly, the siblings spent years crisscrossing Canada and America in support of its release, then toured overseas as their popularity swelled.  Let It Lie won the 2015 JUNO Award for "Roots & Traditional Album Of The Year - Group;" earned The Bros. Landreth a nomination for "International Artist of the Year" at the 2016 UK Americana Music Awards; and received praise from heroes like Bonnie Raitt. (who later recorded her own version of the standout track "Made Up Mind" on her 2022 release, Just Like That…). Building a global audience took a toll on the brothers, though, and Dave temporarily stepped away from the lineup for three years. Joey used that time to launch a solo career, with albums like Whiskey and Hindsight cementing his reputation as a modern-day guitar hero. By the time the siblings reunited for their second album, '87, things had changed.  "When we decided to record a sophomore album for The Bros.," Joey explains, "it was fraught with confusion, resentment, and tension. Dave and I both desperately wanted to get back to making music together, but there was a lot to unpack."  '87 arrived in September 2019 and marked an expansion of the band's sound, but its accompanying tour was cut short by the Covid-19 pandemic. Deflated, Joey and Dave found themselves back home in Winnipeg, riding out the lockdown by funneling their energy into a new batch of recordings. For years, they'd begun each album the same way: by assembling a band and playing together in the studio, allowing their live performances to form the foundation of each song. It was an approach that highlighted the chemistry they'd sharpened on the road, but it didn't always encourage exploration or intentionality. With Come Morning, things were different. Forced to keep a tight circle due to Covid restrictions, Joey and Dave worked together in near-seclusion, pulling long hours in the studio and building songs one instrument at a time. They recorded, layered, stripped away, and layered again. Sounds were sampled, re-sampled, and twisted into something new. Prioritizing moody textures over fiery fretwork, Joey took an understated approach to the guitar, saving his big solos for key moments. He placed an equal emphasis on keyboards, beefing up the recordings with Hammond organ and analog synth. Slowly, steadily, the Landreths pieced together a transportive album built for the heart, the head, and the headphones. This time, the songs weren't the only thing telling a story; the sounds told a story, too.  On "Stay," the two brothers — both of whom became first-time fathers shortly before Come Morning's creation — look for a balance between a touring musician's commitments to the road and a family man's priorities at home. "After the Rain," one of two songs co-written with Jonathan Singleton, finds them optimistically clinging to the silver linings that shine through the darkest of times, while "You Don't Know Me" mourns the loss of a friendship over achingly sparse percussion, soft swells of organ, and gorgeous pedal steel work from guest musician Joe Pisapia. With "Corduroy" and "Come Morning" — two songs about examining emotional damage to repair what's been broken — Joey and Dave even give a nod to their recent history of mending bridges.  "The overarching theme here is hope," says Joey, who shared production duties with longtime collaborator, Murray Pulver. "Many of these songs lean into the tough stuff, like processing emotional trauma and finding strength on the other side. It's a bit of a myth that you're ever done working on that. Dave and I have just begun the journey, and that's why this record represents the rebirth we wanted '87 to be. We're working through the pain, processing it, unpacking our baggage, and beginning to move forward. Last time, we were just walking on a rug that had all kinds of stuff swept under it."  Come Morning was a high watermark for The Bros. Landreth, featuring appearances from Leith Ross (whose 2020 debut was released on the Landreths’ record label, Birthday Cake) and drummers Aaron Sterling and Daniel Roy. At the album's core are the Landreths themselves: two born-to-collaborate brothers who sing songs about hard truths and new beginnings, having been brought back together during a time of unprecedented isolation.
