Close Encounters with Poetry

Sadiqa de Meijer is a poet and essayist who serves as Kingston’s Poet Laureate. Her major works include Leaving Howe Island, alfabet/alphabet, and her most recent release, Qaf's People. She won the 2021 Governor General's Literary Award for Non-Fiction for alfabet/alphabet.
