Description
Historic Niagara-on-the-Lake | July 30 – 7:00 PM
Music Niagara proudly welcomes the FortVio Piano Trio from Lithuania for an inspiring evening of chamber music in the beautiful setting of St. Mark’s Church in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Since their formation in 2006, FortVio—violinist Ingrida Rupaitė, pianist Indrė Baikštytė, and cellist Povilas Jacunskas—have distinguished themselves as one of Europe’s most exciting young chamber ensembles. The trio first captured international attention with victories at prestigious competitions including the Stasys Vainiūnas Piano and Chamber Ensemble Competition in Vilnius and the International Johannes Brahms Competition in Pörtschach, Austria.
Known for their imaginative approach and vibrant musical energy, the ensemble brings a fresh perspective to the piano trio repertoire. Rather than following traditional interpretations, FortVio approaches each score with curiosity and authenticity, uncovering new colours and expressive possibilities while maintaining deep respect for the composers’ intentions.
Their performances are praised for their youthful vitality, stylistic sensitivity, and artistic spontaneity, qualities that have taken them to concert halls and festivals across Europe. In 2012, the trio became an active member of the European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA), further expanding their international artistic collaborations.
FortVio is also known for crafting creative programs that blend music from different eras, offering audiences a rich and engaging musical journey that connects tradition with fresh interpretation.
Experience the dynamic artistry of FortVio Piano Trio in an unforgettable evening of chamber music in historic Niagara-on-the-Lake.
