Strap on your safety glasses, lace up your dancing shoes, and get ready to boogie to a mix of light-hearted, funky original songs and eclectic covers. Power Tools is a Victoria-based band featuring Nigel Fletcher (bass/vocals), Arlo Atkinson (keys), Jody Candlish-Rutherford (guitar/vocals), and Marlowe Pease (drums). With the first three having grown up on Hornby, the band can’t wait to bring their fun and energetic blend of rock, country, funk, and more to a hometown crowd.

The Odus Haven Band - Dance/Rock
The Odus Haven Band features the undeniable musical chemistry that comes with two brothers forming a band with two lifelong friends, and their mutual music teacher, professional musician and music producer, Marc Atkinson. Odus and Arlo Atkinson, Nigel Fletcher and Jody Candlish-Rutherford all grew up surrounded by music on Hornby Island. Raised with music as a second language, this band plays some of the best music rock history has to offer, from Elton John, to Supertramp, to the Beatles, to Bruno Mars, Silk Sonic and more. You will feel the love of music and this community embedded into every note these bandmates play. Their performances are packed with youthful energy, tight grooves, and a love of music that’s both contagious and deeply rooted.

OPENING ACT - The Randoms – Hornby Island Community School Students

The new Hornby Island Community School Grade 7/8 Class (plus a few Grade 6 students) have had a big learning year, including studying music at the Barn Studio with Marc Atkinson. In December, they placed in the top ten in Canada for their age category in the CBC Music Class Challenge for their rendition of The Returner. This innovative SD71 middle years program focuses on experiential learning, confidence building, leadership, and expert mentorship opportunities. Some students are new this year to their instruments, while others have grown up with music all around them. Come cheer them on!
