Synopsis: Based on the Governor General's Award-winning novel by Kim Thúy, Ru is the story of the arduous journey of a wealthy family fleeing from Vietnam in 1975, landing in Quebec. After a dangerous sea crossing and a stay in a camp in Malaysia, young Vietnamese girl Tinh and her family are accepted as refugees in Canada and arrive in Granby where they begin their new lives. But for Tinh, adapting comes with its own set of challenges. Already shy and reserved by nature, she has to learn a new language and integrate into her new environment. Haunted by the hardships of the journey, Tinh will have to dig deep within herself for the resilience necessary for her survival and happiness.

Synopsis: Basé sur le roman de Kim Thúy, lauréat d’un Prix du Gouverneur général, Ru raconte le périple ardu d’une riche famille fuyant le Vietnam en 1975 pour atterrir au Québec. Après une dangereuse traversée en mer et un séjour dans un camp en Malaisie, la jeune Vietnamienne Tinh et sa famille sont acceptées comme réfugiés au Canada et arrivent à Granby où elles entreprennent leur nouvelle vie. Mais pour Tinh, s'adapter comporte son lot de difficultés. Déjà de nature timide et réservée, elle doit apprendre une nouvelle langue et s'intégrer à son nouvel environnement. Hantée par les épreuves du voyage, Tinh devra puiser au plus profond d'elle-même la résilience nécessaire à sa survie et son bonheur.
