Farms of the Future: The Evolution of Agriculture
Ever since the Agricultural Revolution approximately 12,000 years ago, when humanity began to transition from hunting and gathering tribes, to populations living in one place and forming cities, agriculture has been an essential industry to human survival on earth. The evolution of agriculture practices from then till now is highlighted by two further revolutions, the Industrial Revolution, starting in about 1750 till 1900's, and the Technological Revolution, that began with the creation of the internet in the 1980's, that we are currently living through. This documentary does a deep dive into the evolution of broad acre grain farming in Western Canada over the last 100 years, and takes a look at where agriculture will continue to evolve as we move into the future and face the challenge of feeding a growing global population on a decreasing land base.
