The VEC proudly presents Family Dinner: a showcase of three of the newest and most exciting indie bands from on and off-island!
Opening the show at 8pm will be local indie group Silverware, followed by HOTPOT, a gaggle of mostly BIPOC baddies (and Aren) residing on unceded Lekwungen lands and bouncing in the space between jazz, reggae, funk, soul, hip hop.
Closing the night is Vancouver’s Summer’s Brother, whose singer you may recognize as the drummer for Chase The Bear. Summer’s Brother crosses a threshold somewhere between the glam and artistry of David Bowie and the raw, theatrical emotion of My Chemical Romance, combining the genres of music and fashion with unapologetic androgyny. It’s dark but funky, psychedelic and twisted. A beautiful tragedy filled with dancing, moshing, laughter and tears.

This event is taking place on the traditional, stolen, unceded land of the Lekwungen and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples. We acknowledge the rich cultural history of the many peoples and rituals that have been affected by the ongoing process of dispossession and colonialism. We hold this understanding in our interactions and engagements with this land and its people.
