Celebrating Women's Leadership - 93rd Anniversary of the ‘Persons’ Case Pink Tea

 

Many of Calgary's current female leaders will be coming to tea!

Emily Murphy and Louise McKinney, just two members of the Famous 5, will welcome and inspire us to pursue our goals, our dreams!

This tea is an opportunity to express our gratitude for the progress which has been made regarding equality for women and to  re-commit to equity.

Before the ‘Persons’ Case decision declaring ‘women are persons’ on Oct. 18, 1929, women were legally defined as being ‘eligible for pains and penalties but not rights and privileges.’ The ‘Persons’ Case declared that ‘both women and men are persons!’ and in Canada that meant women could be appointed to the Senate!

 While enjoying a delicious tea, there will be singing and lively conversation! Chat with trailblazers!! Singer/songwriter Carolyn Harley will teach us her Ballad of the Famous Five and the Spirit of the Famous Five so that we have many ways to encourage ourselves to succeed!
