About Esteban Seunarine

Esteban Seunarine is a Winnipeg-based drummer, composer, producer, and educator who weaves together rhythmic traditions from around the world. A Brandon University Jazz Performance graduate, he's shaped his sound through mentors like Eric Platz, Tommy Crane, Marika Galea, and Thom Gill.

He has shared stages with Grammy and Juno-winning artists, including Sara Gazarek, Jason Palmer, and Luis Deniz, as well as influential musicians across Canada and internationally. These collaborations have informed his approach to unconventional rhythms and storytelling through improvisation.

His music tackles complex themes with emotional depth while remaining accessible—he's dedicated to bridging the gap between sophisticated musical ideas and everyday audiences. Currently active in Winnipeg's vibrant music scene, he continues to perform, teach, and develop boundary-pushing projects.

Jazz Winnipeg's New Groove Series features the best and brightest up-and-coming musicians in our city. Expect new sounds, bold artistic statements, and young musicians keen to make their mark.
