Which is superior, the Old Fashioned or the Manhattan? It’s a topic guaranteed to generate a spirited debate. Both classic cocktails typically include whiskey and a cherry garnish, but there’s a wide gulf between passionate proponents of the sugar-kissed Old Fashioned and cool defenders of the vermouth-infused Manhattan. Spirits educator Keith Nicholson, from Statera Academy, will touch on the histories of the two mixed drinks before moving on to discuss recipes, components, and methods. Guests will sample a selection of ryes and bourbons individually prior to engaging in hands-on experience mixing mini version of both cocktails.
