Description
There are a surprising number of variables that can influence the flavour of a spirit, but the type of barrel used, and the time a spirit spends in the barrel, are the most important factors in developing a flavour profile. The aptly-named Betty Cooper (a “cooper” is a person who makes barrels) brings her expertise as a mixologist and spirit product consultant to this seminar on the under-appreciated barrel. Topics will include the craft of the cooper, the logistics and science behind maturation, an in-depth look at American oak, and the specific impact the Bourbon industry has on the liquor industry as a whole. Guests will taste a selection of whiskeys from around the world that illustrate how barrels influence the spirit’s character.
