Kaitiakitanga: the Māori concept of guardianship and protecting the environment. The New Zealand wine industry has been a leader in sustainability for decades, but over the years they’ve found that protecting people and places also results in superior wines.  Today 96% of the county’s vineyards are certified by Sustainable Winegrowing NZ, and practises extend far beyond bottle stoppers, even including efficiency of wine delivery to international markets.  DJ Kearney leads this guided tasting of premium wines from New Zealand’s North and South Islands, featuring not only the country’s renowned Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir, but a diverse selection of other varietals that are thriving under winemakers’ far-sighted care.
