Originally a Scot but based in Edmonton since the 1990s by way of Ontario, Maria Dunn learned classical piano and sang in community choirs before hosting a campus radio folk program at the U of A. A string of increasingly assured albums since then culminated in Joyful Banner Blazing (2022). Produced by the eminent Shannon Johnson of The McDades and JUNO recipient in the Traditional Roots Album category, the album spent four weeks at #1 on CKUA radio. He originally won the hearts of CFC audiences as one third of Brother Sun.
