Description
2001 documentary about the pioneering 1970s Zephyr skating team.
The high-flying "vert" (i.e. vertical) style of skateboarding is now such a defining element of international youth culture that it's hard to believe it wasn't invented by a skateboard manufacturer. In fact, it was invented in the street, in a place called Dogtown, "where the debris meets the sea." In DOGTOWN AND Z-BOYS, Stacy Peralta, one of the original Dogtown skaters, along with photojournalists Craig Stecyk, has interwoven these vintage images of skaters and skate spots of the past with interview material to create an eyewitness account of the birth of modern skateboarding. DOGTOWN AND Z-BOYS is the story of a group of accidental revolutionaries, gifted kids who inadvertently inspired an American pop culture phenomenon.
