Sasser Fine Arts Hall at the Northwest Campus of Santa Fe College (SF), 3000 NW 83rd Street, Gainesville.
Tickets are $10 for general admission and free to students, faculty and staff with Santa Fe College identification cards. Tickets are available from the SF Box Office at 352-395-4181 and online at: https://www.showpass.com/dimensions-dance-theatre-of-miami/
Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami (DDTM) was founded by Jennifer Carlynn Kronenberg and Carlos Miguel Guerra, former principal dancers of Miami City Ballet under the direction of Edward Villella. DDTM’s repertoire includes classical ballet and contemporary dance and reflects the diverse cultures that exist throughout Miami.
On the program are “Light Rain,” choreographed by Gerald Arpino of the Joffrey Ballet and premiered by the Joffrey in the 1980s; “Maria,” an introspective piece choreographed by long-time Ballet Hispanico dancers Lyvan and Melissa Verdecia; “Touch Me,” a male solo piece also choreographed by Arpino that is set to the spiritual of that same title performed by Rev. James Cleveland and The Charles Fold Singers; and “Adiemus,” choreographed by DDTM choreographer Yanis Pikieris and David Palmer, described as “a testament to the inextinguishable human spirit.”
Directors, choreographers and selected DDTM dancers will teach classes and lead workshops and discussions during the Young Dancer Workshop of North Central Florida that takes place Oct. 28-29.
“The Young Dancer Workshop is a one-stop shop of dance opportunities in Florida, where students explore how they can move forward with their love of dance,” explained Fine Arts and Entertainment Technology Department Chairperson Alora Haynes, a former professional ballerina. “Having Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami here as Master Artists brings important communication opportunities and new levels of inspiration to Florida’s future dance leaders.”
The residency and performance by Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami is sponsored by a grant from South Arts, a nonprofit regional arts organization based in Atlanta, and partially sponsored by the SF Fine Arts and Entertainment Technology Department.
