Influences of hip hop, jazz, '70s soul, bossa nova, funk and psychedelia breathe retro life into the postmodern alt-pop music of Vancouver's indie darlings, Dacey.
Based out of Kelowna, BC, 538st features brothers Sam and Jake Cooke. With a foundation of hip-hop that melds jazzy R’n’B and funk, their sound is reminiscent yet fresh. The good vibes pass effortlessly between the stage and crowd, making it impossible not to dance, and impossible to not have back to the DIFTC stage.
Kayo Guevarra (né Filbert Salton) was born and raised in the Caribbean island of St. Lucia, and now calls Halifax, Nova Scotia home.
Kayo describes his sound as ‘Future meets Fugees’. It’s a lush blend of hip-hop, R&B and Reggae; a raspy delivery mixed with unique cadence, catchy melodies and a certain rhythm that could only stem from his island upbringing.
Chlo is a Filipina-Mixed R&B/Hip-Hop artist from New Westminster, BC whose unique tones and bold energy light up every stage she touches. Fuelled by relatable stories, ethereal auras and unapologetic confidence, her sound moves your—mind, body, and soul.
Toronto-based vocalist/emcee/songwriter ‘Ice Tha One’ goes all in. With roots based in r&b, soul and hip-hop Ice delivers raw lyricism with a smooth melody. Always repping the east side of her city. Ice continues to create innovative music that keeps listeners wanting more. ‘In The Paint’ was a dynamic record that showcased her ‘no holds barred’ demeanor which continues to draw audiences to live performances while Ice’s magnetic and unapologetic energy fuels the crowd.
