Lee Gamble is an artist, producer, label owner and DJ. Over the last several years Lee has released a string of critically acclaimed albums and EP’s on seminal electronic music labels PAN and Hyperdub, most notably Diversions 1994-1996, KOCH, Mnestic Pressure and Flush Real Pharynx 2019-2021.
He runs UIQ – a label/platform releasing artists like ZULI, Nkisi & Lanark Artefax. Lee hosts a monthly show on NTS.
Lee has toured extensively over four continents, performing live as well as regularly DJing anywhere from Hyperdub’s monthly Ø night at Corsica Studios, via Glastonbury to MoMa PS1 or Tate Modern.
His DJ sets have been aptly described as "nothing short of outrageous [...] rollercoaster through genre & tempo, spanning sub-destroying bass & grime, dubstep infusions, plenty of breaks and a hefty dose of freaky techno. Full of unpredictable twists and turns while always remaining highly danceable and exceptionally fun" [Nowadays]
He has collaborated with visual artists Dave Gaskarth and Clifford Sage on A/V works, performed ambisonic and multichannel live shows and composed pieces for the London Contemporary Orchestra. His recent work explores the technological and social implications of AI & machine learning in his 2020 audio essay on the deep fake Face2Face commissioned by Camden Arts Center, and 2021 short essay Head Models: on Rave Simulation, Involuntary Musical Imagery, Machine Learning, Neural Networks and Hallucination for Liquid Architecture/Unsound Festival & Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore as well as his current/forthcoming project exploring human simulation and representation – Models. https://www.discogs.com/artist/1274911-Lee-Gamble
