FILM SYNOPSIS
At the age of 62, the legend in Flamenco-Jazz music, Jorge Pardo, takes on the challenge to gather a band for a unique fusion concert. Meet Jorge as he travels from Spain to New York to India, diving into a world of rhythm and sharing the mystery of Flamenco with new generations. Will he succeed in organizing the concert of his life? And if so, with what success? TRANCE is a look into the human experience of trying to fulfill one's dreams that is full of exceptional musical performances, featuring stunning artists in the most ambitious film about Flamenco music for many years.
SPEACIAL GUESTS
Anastassiia Alexander is a Russian-born, Mexican flamenco dancer trained in Madrid, Spain. Her artistic practice is rooted in tradition, yet explores the boundaries and the intersection of flamenco with contemporary performance. She has integrated her work in a variety of genres, including opera, spoken word, and media art. A versatile dancer, Anastassiia has performed in productions varying from contemporary to traditional flamenco tablaos in Canada and Mexico.. She has also performed in various productions with Calgary Concert Opera, Mercury Opera (Edmonton), and collaborated with numerous artists from different disciplines such as visual artist Gabriele Kuzabaviciute, Calgary based poet Miranda Krogstad, spoken word performer BASK, world musician Jeff Kavanda, Syrian-born singer-songwriter and oud player Aya Mhana, jazz singer Tina Hartt, to name a few.
Judith Romero was born in Sparwood BC, where she began figure skating at the age of 3. As an adult she relocated to Vancouver, and in 2008 she transitioned from figure skating to Flamenco dancing under teachers Oscar Nieto and Kasandra Lea. In 2011, Judith moved to Seville, Spain to study extensively with Vicky Barea and Ursula Lopez for 2 years. Additional teachers in Spain included Felipe Mato, Saray de Los Reyes, Manuela Carrasco, Leonor Leal, El Torombo, Carmen Ledesma and La Faraona. Judith presently lives in Calgary with her husband and two children. She studies remotely with dancer Inmaculada Ortega out of Inma’s Madrid studio. Recently, she started working under the tutelage of Anastassiia Alexander with whom she will be performing. Judith also produces intimate flamenco shows and hosts regular flamenco fiestas at Romero Distilling in Calgary.
Anastassiia and Judith will give a performance at the beginning of the evening.

Your email confirmation from Showpass (once you have bought your ticket) will contain your unique personalized link to the event. It will be in the body of the email - not in the ticket that is attached to the email.

HOW TO ATTEND THE EVENT IN-PERSON
The health & safety of our audience, volunteers and staff is our priority. Although the Alberta government has cancelled the Restrictions Exemption Program (REP) as of February 9, 2022 and lifted the face mask requirement as of March 1, 2022.
Our partner, Globe Cinema, encourages the use of face masks when entering and moving about the facility. Once seated, you are welcome to remove your mask.
As we move through our monthly screening season, we will adapt to any restrictions/changes related to Covid.

Refund Policy
There are no refunds or exchanges unless a screening or event is cancelled. All passholders and tickets holders should be either in cinema 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start time or if attending online, 5 minutes prior to scheduled start time.
