Danny Michel is one of Canada’s most distinctive and adventurous singer-songwriters - a captivating performer whose music moves effortlessly between rock, pop, folk, world music and beyond.

For decades, Danny’s restless creativity, thoughtful lyrics and unmistakable guitar work have earned him a devoted following, multiple JUNO and Polaris Prize nominations, CBC’s Heart of Gold Award, and Canadian Folk Music Awards for Producer of the Year and the Oliver Schroder Pushing the Boundaries Award.

His remarkable musical journeys have taken him from recording and touring with Belize’s Garifuna Collective to creating an album aboard a Soviet-era icebreaker in the Arctic alongside astronaut Chris Hadfield. Albums such as Matadora and Khlebnikov explore human connection, environmental responsibility and our place in the cosmos, while his latest release, Ghost Town, offers some of his most personal and vulnerable songwriting to date.

Beyond the stage, Danny founded the DM Ocean Academy Fund in support of a nonprofit high school in Belize. His commitment to music, community and the environment has led to memorable appearances celebrating Jane Goodall and David Suzuki, as well as tours with Stuart McLean’s beloved Vinyl Cafe.
