Danny Carroll returns to his home town of Thunder Bay to present a concert of original compositions.

Danny Carroll is a seasoned artist and performer. His music combines many different genres -jazz, neo-classical, classical-crossover and electronic soundscapes- with improvisation into a very accessible and unique musical voice. Besides performing new solo piano works, and some jazz (one of the pieces is called “Chippewa” !) Danny will play some selections from his gentle and relaxing album KEYS FOR TRANSFORMATION. He adds, “I will also be creating a piece with the string players that will be totally improvised. Audience members will have a chance to offer musical note names that I will use to create a piece that will only exist in time at this concert, for this special audience!”

The concert is a mix of grand piano, a Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra string trio, and electronics. Interwoven throughout the music are Danny's insightful thoughts about growing up in Thunder Bay, and humorous stories about music and life.

Danny’s music has been heard in many theatre productions: Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, Prairie Theatre Exchange, Manitoba Theatre for Young People, and Winnipeg Jewish Theatre. He has also created music for children’s choir, film, and corporate videos.
Danny is a gigging pianist. He was one of the regular piano players at Winnipeg’s Hotel Fort Garry lounge for 18 years. Danny has played for musical theatre shows as rehearsal pianist, pit musician and /or Music Director, and is inducted in the Wall of Fame at Rainbow Stage (Canada’s largest outdoor musical theatre venue). He has a Bachelor of Music (Composition) and Masters in Education.

Tickets: $30.00 (plus fees 2.15 and GST 1.50)

Part of the proceeds will be donated to Thunder Bay’s RFDA (Regional Food Distribution Association)
