The celebrated Toronto-based Kurdish kamāncha player, composer and singer Shahriyār Jamshidi returns to Toronto’s Burdock Music Hall to reverberate the sounds of Kurdish musical heritage, highlighting the Kurdish mountain themes which spread from West Asia through Central Asia in his kamāncha performance while singing the unforgettable tunes with new arrangements from all four parts of Kurdistan, including performing his compositions.

An award-winning Kurdish-Canadian kamāncha player, composer and singer with a pronounced cultural background, Shahriyār Jamshidi, is well-known for his creative and masterful kamānche improvisations, both as a soloist and in ensembles. He has devoted his artistic profession to the preservation and transmission of the Kurdish musical heritage—focusing on the kamānche as a unique and capable musical instrument to demonstrate the art-music of Kurdistan. Jamshidi has performed across West and Central Asia, Europe, and North America—and released four solo albums, including his recent recording My Sunset-Land, Rojava that is dedicated to WOMEN of KURDISTAN.
