Crossing the Ocean

For ten years, a box sat in the man’s basement, unopened. It was left to him by his father when he passed away.  One summer, he decides to open the box at his family cottage on an isolated island in the middle of a deep, dark lake. On his way there, a wave hits his boat, and the box is thrown overboard. It sinks down to the very bottom of the lake. The man’s three attempts to recover the box take him on a magical journey below the waves — but when he finally brings the box back to the surface, will he be ready to open it? This multimedia theatre piece begs the question, “What will you remember when you grow up, and how?”

Please note: Please arrive at the Museum 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of the production.  Proof of vaccination for anyone aged 12 and up is required to access events in Ontario, including this performance. Un homme reçoit de son père en héritage une boîte et laisse, pendant dix ans, dans sa cave. Un été, il décide d’ouvrir la boîte dans le chalet familial situé sur une île isolée au milieu d’un lac profond et sombre. En chemin, une vague frappe son bateau et la boîte est projetée par-dessus bord. Elle coule jusqu’au fond du lac. Les trois tentatives de l’homme pour récupérer la boîte l’entraînent dans un voyage magique sous les vagues. Mais lorsqu’il ramène enfin la boîte à la surface, est-il prêt à l’ouvrir? Cette pièce de théâtre multimédia soulève la question suivante : « De quoi vous souviendrez-vous quand vous serez grand, et comment? ».
