Continuing Watercolour - October Term

North Van Arts presents Continuing Watercolour!

Sophia Longo will lead students on a exploration of Watercolours to develop more understanding of composition, perspective, and colour theory.

Skills Learned:

• Fundamental techniques like wet on wet and wet on dry will be reinforced
• Advanced techniques like glazing will be explored over the course of four sessions,
• Participants will work on painting projects in a supportive and engaging atmosphere with other watercolor enthusiasts.

Who Should Attend:

• This class is suitable for beginners who have taken at least one class before, either with us at North Van Arts or elsewhere as we won’t be covering true beginner basics.
• Ideal for intermediate students looking to strengthen their foundational skills and build confidence in their painting

What You Need to Bring:

The colors and brushes listed are just suggestions. Participants can bring any additional ones they prefer.

• Pencil: 1 F (or HB) pencil or mechanical pencil $2.20
• Knead Eraser: $1.40
• Paper Clips (Optional): 2 Bulldog paper clips $1.10 or Painter’s tape
• Watercolor Paper: 100% cotton cold-pressed paper (1 sheet 22”x30” 140lb) or watercolor paper pad. Recommended brands: Arches, Fabriano, Saunders, Winsor & Newton, BaoHong.
• Watercolor Brushes:
  • 1 Round brush No.2 or smaller.
  • 1 Round brush No.6 or No.4.
• Watercolor Paints:
  • Sepia or Van Dick Brown
  • Burnt Umber
  • Burnt Sienna
  • Yellow Ochre
  • Ultramarine Blue
  • Alizarin Crimson
  • Lemon Yellow or Hansa Yellow Lemon
  • Cerulean Blue (optional)
  • Cobalt Blue ( optional)
  • Hardboard (Optional): Backboard masonite $5.90 or corrugated plastic sheets.
